Meet Our Team

Kisa McKinney, MS, LMFT

Kisa McKinney, MS, LMFT

I am a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. Counseling, consulting, and teaching have been my passions and my work for the last 17 years. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Master of Arts in Theology, and a Master of Arts in Marital & Family Therapy. I am certified to practice Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Alternatives for Families-CBT for families struggling with abuse. And because of the Gottman emphasis on a sound relationship, I use Gottman Couple Therapy Methods when working with couples. It is my practice to employ many methods of psychotherapy depending on the needs of my client; there is no one-size fits all. From Psychodynamic to Family Systems to Emotionally Focused Therapy, I am able to customize a treatment that supports my clients and meets their needs.

But even greater than my educational background and work experience, is the compassion, support, and nurture with which I approach every client. I have a special concern for women, parents struggling to meet the needs of their children, and members of the LGBTQ communities creating families of choice, dealing with coming out issues, struggling through gender transitioning, and reconciling their sexuality with their spiritual growth. My goal is to meet you where you are and help you to bring your whole self to every relationship.

Edith Susan Root-Clark, LMSW, CAADC

As a Licensed Master Social Worker, LMSW and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor, CAADC I have specialized knowledge in trauma, substance use, depression, and anxiety. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which is designed to treat traumas and emotional distress that can feel debilitating and impair functioning. In fact, EMDR is an evidenced-based intervention that quickly moves individuals through disturbing events and negative feelings to improved sense of self and daily functioning.

I would like to assist you with achieving the happy, healthy, and purpose driven life, with quality relationships, that you so deserve. I am passionate about helping individuals and groups obtain the quality of life they desire in the process of recovery.

I believe recovery is achieved through a wholistic approach, building upon my clients’ strengths and partnering to facilitate meaningful change. For the past 12 years, I’ve provided a safe, supportive, non-judgmental environment for individuals, couples, families and the LGBTQ+ Community working towards their full potential. My clinical experience, ongoing professional development, and compassionate service to people are what drive me in my work as a clinician. I would count it a privilege to partner with you to achieve your personal mental wellness goals.

Edwyna Piert, MS, LMFT, MA Educational Psychology

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 20 years in the mental health field, I’ve had the pleasure of working with individuals, couples, and families from a variety of backgrounds. I earned my Master of Science degree in Educational Psychology, from University of Southern California, in 1998 and my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology, from National University, in 2014.   Solely providing telehealth services, I work with clients who are experiencing difficulty finding healthy solutions to daily challenges in their careers, life stage, and points of change and transition in life. Utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Humanistic approaches, I collaborate with my clients to help guide and support them toward healthy living. I have a special knowledge of physical and mental wellness practices and tend to incorporate these healthy practices, behaviors, and perspectives into treatment plans with my clients. I believe that nutrition, physical movement, core thoughts and beliefs are the basis for healing much of the pain in our hearts, minds, and histories; these tend to be essential for forward movement and personal growth and development. I’ve had several opportunities and worked in various settings to put these practices and modalities to the test for clients suffering from substance use disorders, anxiety, depression, and traumatic histories and I have experienced the joy of witnessing many people find relief and solution to the challenges that were keeping them from reaching their goals. I would consider it a privilege to support you and bring these skills to help build a lifestyle and practice that reaches your goals too.
